This collection consists of a transmittal letter from H. Robert Otness, Ph D. to Jean Engerman (now known as Jean Crisp) at the Washington State Library. The letter is dated Mar. 8, 1989 and signed by Dr. Otness. He is sending material for the period of 1947-1950 at the Rainier State School. The collection includes 11 photographs of activities at the school; 43 slides of the school and activities for 1948-1949; a copy of the Christmas 1967 issue NSH News (a bi-weekly publication by and for patients of the Northern State Hospital); an abstract of the Convention of the Children's Benevolent League of Washington, Aug. 1-6, 1950; a Christmas Card [?] that was given to Dr. Otness from the "crippled children at Rainier". The Christmas card is signed by individual children. It also includes: publications, newspaper clippings, school newspapers questionnaire to determine interests and talents of employees, publications regarding Rainier State School and information about activities for the children.
